Like a house music phoenix rising from the flames Development is back in town and we’ve got a HEAVYWEIGHT line-up for our (late) 4th birthday party
featuring two of our favourite past guests: DJ Spinna & Osunlade. We’re also taking up residency at a brand new club called Sound Control
This is the venue we’ve spent so long looking for, it’s seriously underground, with a sound system to knock your socks off and a fantastic layout. There’s a lovely bar upstairs for some pre-rave drinkies but the real fun will take place beneath the streets, back in the basements that have served us so well in the past. We’ll be setting up camp there from now on and getting stuck into bringing you the best DJs from around the world once again…
Back to the DJ’s; Osunlade has played for us twice already and took the roof off the place both times with a relentless onslaught of unique deepness. Few of our guests have managed to get the crowd so locked into a groove as this man and we’re well chuffed to have him back at long last. Osunlade has been pushing the boundaries of deep house music for over a decade, and is one of the strongest producers of the genre, with productions ranging from organic afro soul and deep soulful house, to stripped back techno-infused floor smashers. As it was our birthday we wanted to do something special so we also drafted in another Development hero and one of the most talented and versatile DJ’s about, DJ Spinna. Musically you can never know what to expect from this guy…from turntablism two copy madness with soul and hip hop to soulful house and disco to acid house, techno or jazz…he really brings it all to the table in his sets. The only thing you can guarantee is that it is put together with pretty much unparalleled skill and experience. He is without a doubt one of the best. Production wise Spinna has recently released a long awaited hip hop album called Sonic Smash and a cracking disco compilation on BBE records, The Boogie Back. Both essential.
